WHITE COAT CEREMONY FOR STUDENTS OF THE INTERNATIONAL DOCTOR OF MEDICINE PROGRAM – DONG A UNIVERSITY

Within the framework of the inaugural ceremony for the first cohort of the International Doctor of Medicine program, Dong A University solemnly organized the White Coat Ceremony—a sacred milestone marking the beginning of the journey toward becoming future physicians for new students from India.

The ceremony was not only an activity to welcome the new academic year but also carried profound significance regarding professional responsibility, medical ethics, and the noble mission of the medical profession. Attending the event were university leaders, representatives of the International Medical Education Center, partner institutions and hospitals in the Central region, as well as faculty members and medical students of Dong A University.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Luong Minh Sam, Chairman of the University Council of Dong A University, emphasized: “The presence of Indian students today not only enriches the multicultural academic environment but also creates bridges of friendship and knowledge between Vietnam and India—two nations that share traditions of humanity, dedication to learning, and respect for knowledge.”

This affirmation highlights the special significance of the first international medical student cohort in the University’s strategy of educational internationalization and academic connectivity.

Extending greetings to the new academic journey of the students, Dr. Nguyen Minh Duc, MD, PhD, Director of the International Medical Education Center at Dong A University, shared: “When studying at Dong A University through the International Doctor of Medicine program built upon international standards, students not only learn to become outstanding global physicians—professionally competent, ethical, and compassionate—but also contribute to strengthening the bridge of friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of Vietnam and India.”

With a six-year training pathway aligned with international standards, students will study in a modern and dynamic environment; develop professional competence through the University’s medical practice system; and participate in clinical training at partner hospitals. In addition, diverse cultural, academic, and sports exchange activities will support students’ comprehensive development in expertise, skills, and global integration capacity.

The moment when new students were officially dressed in the white medical coat became the emotional highlight of the ceremony. Beyond symbolizing medical knowledge, it serves as a lasting reminder of responsibility, dedication, and compassion that every physician must uphold throughout their professional journey.

Sharing at the ceremony, Indian student Neivino Zao expressed: “Wearing the white coat marks a commitment to learning, self-discipline, and growth in order to become responsible and compassionate doctors.”

This solemn ceremony concluded with pride and expectation, opening a new chapter for the future physicians of Dong A University—individuals who will continuously cultivate medical ethics and professional excellence to serve community health while contributing to international knowledge exchange and friendship.
